The one that steals the show, however, is Henry Cavill as Geralt I won't lie, when I first heard he was going to be Geralt, I seriously did not think it would work, but he does Geralt's bitterness, reluctant heroism and sarcastic humor all extremely well, and it's clear he also put the work into the combat elements, as it's clear that a lot of the time, it's him actually performing the action scenes.The first promotional images of The WitcherNetflix series have been released in the form of posters that show Ciri, Geralt, and Yennefer. Lastly, the Casting of this series is actually very good - Anya Chalotra is compelling as the morally complex and world-weary Yennefer, and Freya Allan is fantastic as the frail-yet-fierce Ciri. The action sequences, when the use of iffy-CGI isn't used, is generally pretty excellent, and the unique rules to magic, as well as how magic can be used to kill your enemies, are creative. In regards to the execution, the cinematography, lighting and editing are all very good, and I do dig the musical score that keeps the Polish influence of both the Novels and the CDPR Games.

Oh, and they use a few Story Subversion methods of Storytelling as well - these are actually well done in their own right, but since the full Plot is already difficult to fully keep up with as it is, I actually count this as a point against the show. The problem is that there are numerous moving parts, some of which don't even frequently appear (yet the audience is supposed to remember their part in the big picture), the motives and methods of the villains is unclear, and there are a lot of undisclosed time-jumping taking place from episode to episode for example, Yennefer's story is its own story, but you don't know, at the time, that it takes place decades before the preceding and subsequent episodes, and the way these timeline-facets are revealed are surprisingly subtle, taking place in scenes that are already loaded with story exposition and worldbuilding. the problem is that the over-arching story is.muddled, to say the least. When analyzed as an Episode-By-Episode breakdown, the show is almost always very good. Each episode tells a solid, well-written story, often times with sharp dialogue, solid pacing, excellent mood-building and a dark sense of humor. It does the first and third of these extremely well, but honestly it does the second one rather poorly. The Witcher: Season 1 primarily attempts to do three things - Construct a complex Fantasy setting, tell a large over-arching story, and tell a bunch of one-off stories that ultimately factor into the larger story.
